DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct research on biological invasion impacts and management
• Develop risk assessment protocols for potentially invasive species
• Provide scientific support to biosecurity policy and planning
• Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and technical reports
• Represent SANBI in national and international biodiversity forums
• Collaborate with other scientists and stakeholders
• Supervise postgraduate students and technical staff
• Contribute to biodiversity monitoring and assessment programs
• Develop and implement research proposals
• Assist in developing invasive species management plans

• PhD in Biological Sciences, Ecology, Botany, Zoology or related field
• Minimum 5 years post-PhD research experience
• Proven track record of scientific publications
• Experience in invasion biology and risk assessment
• Strong analytical and statistical skills
• Project management experience
• Good communication skills (written and verbal)
• Experience in mentoring junior researchers
• Experience in scientific grant writing
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
