# Site Manager - Estate Landscaping

**Start Date:** 1 June 2025

## Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Estate Site Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of landscape and grounds maintenance on a high-end estate in Somerset West. This leadership role involves supervising a team of over 45 staff, ensuring quality service delivery, and maintaining the highest standards of environmental and horticultural care.

## Minimum Requirements
1. National Diploma in Horticulture, or equivalent qualification.
2. Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar landscaping or estate management role.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in isiXhosa, English, and Afrikaans.
4. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
5. Valid South African driver's license.
6. Must reside in or near Somerset West.
7. Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
8. Strong knowledge of horticultural practices, landscape maintenance, and environmental sustainability.
9. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle unexpected challenges.

## Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement landscape, garden, and ground maintenance strategies.
2. Establish and manage an effective operations and performance monitoring system.
3. Define measurable performance indicators aligned with the Service Level Agreement (SLA).
4. Identify, plan, and implement corrective and enhancement actions.
5. Apply sound environmental and ecological practices in all maintenance operations.
6. Manage cost centres, budget planning, and financial reporting.
7. Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of over 45 staff members, including gardeners, maintenance workers, and other support personnel.
8. Manage the budget for the landscape and grounds maintenance department, ensuring cost-effective operations.
9. Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized services and supplies.
10. Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations and best practices.
11. Provide regular reports on maintenance activities, budget status, and team performance to the estate owner or management.

## Key Performance Indicators
1. Efficiently schedule and allocate tasks to team members.
2. Ensure high-quality execution of all landscape maintenance activities.
3. Provide clear communication and leadership to ensure staff understand tasks and expectations.
4. Monitor team productivity to ensure timely completion of all duties.
5. Oversee maintenance and proper storage of machinery and tools to ensure functionality and safety.
