The Expanded Public Works Programme offers graduates an employment opportunity to gain work experience in environmental management within local municipalities across all 9 provinces of South Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
• Environmental Planning & Management: Support municipalities with environmental technical assistance, provide advice on municipal mandates aligned with environmental legislation
• Capacity Building: Support environmental capacity building initiatives and assess municipal performance in environmental management
• Municipal Planning: Participate in Integrated Development Planning, District Development Model processes, ensure integration of environmental priorities
• Programme Implementation: Support departmental Sector Programmes including project identification, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation
• Environmental Education: Facilitate environmental education and awareness within municipalities
Monthly Stipend: R9,200
Duration: Graduate programme with work experience focus

Essential Requirements:
• National Diploma in Environmental Management/Environmental Sciences or relevant qualification
• Knowledge of environmental legislation with focus on local government
• Understanding of local government and its relationship with national and provincial spheres
• Computer literacy and Microsoft Office proficiency
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Interpersonal, coordination and stakeholder management skills
• Organizational, communication, and facilitation skills
• Understanding of government planning processes
• Valid driver's license
