Description

Panthera Corporation seeks a Thailand-based officer to assist in developing small cat work across the country and provide support for the Fishing Cat Project in collaboration with King Mongkut's University of Technology, Thonburi (KMUTT), Faculty of Forestry, Kasetsart University and the Seub Nakhasathien Foundation (SNF) in and around Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park.

Key Responsibilities:
• Project Management: Develop small cat work across Thailand in line with regional priorities, organize and conduct community engagement and ecological monitoring activities, secure requisite permits and authorizations for research in protected areas
• Research Coordination: Collaborate with partners to implement fishing cat ecological monitoring scientifically and professionally, coordinate with Wildcat Research Data Specialist for systematic data management and analysis
• Financial Management: Develop activity budgets, request cash disbursements, manage field expenses, and reconcile disbursements following Panthera protocols
• Reporting & Development: Develop and implement plans for fishing cat conservation activities, assist in developing progress reports in Thai and/or English, compile results of community engagement activities
• Stakeholder Relations: Maintain professional communication with Department of National Parks, government agencies, universities and relevant organizations in Thailand, attend conferences and seminars to communicate Panthera's conservation work

Location: Kanchanaburi, Thailand with regular travel between Kanchanaburi Province and Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park

Requirements

Essential Requirements:
• Minimum Bachelor of Forestry, preferably in Wildlife Management, Conservation Biology or similar field
• At least 1 year experience studying ecology and implementing scientific research and/or social projects
• At least 1 year experience using camera trap data management and analysis tools
• Knowledge of species conservation principles and wildlife surveys/management approaches
• Working knowledge of conservation issues in Thailand and Asia region
• Knowledge of Thai wildlife trade laws, regulations, and law enforcement principles
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Thai, good English communication skills
• Well-developed MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Intermediate skills in statistical and analytical packages such as R
• Advanced skills in mapping and spatial analysis (QGIS or ArcGIS)
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
• Valid driving license for manual transmission vehicles
• Physically fit and willing to undertake fieldwork in remote locations
• Ability to travel and work outside normal office hours (weekends, extended field periods)
